Jaro Berce was invited by Regina Puckett to take part in the Writing Process blog tour. Jaro was kind enough to extend an invitation to me to also take part in the Writing Process blog tour. Its purpose is to showcase different author methods all over the world. Jaro’s posts describe his views from his book: on leadership, management, martial arts, West and East in different ways that can add to the personal growth of a leader through Wing Chun Philosophy. But the main purpose is to show, that there are other ways of thinking!

My tour questions

What am I working on?

I’m currently working on marketing my “Help Us Help Our 4-Legged Frynds” Initiative. I have decided to donate the proceeds from my 1st 1000 book sales to local Animal Shelters and Charities. Animal Abuse is something that I abhor and I’d like to do my part to provide financial aid to those facilities that care for the innocent victims.

How does my work differ from others of the same genre?

My book, “What’s Your Name? Life as a Rock ‘n’ Roll Dog” is a book for children, dog lovers and music lovers. I have always been a fan of Southern Rock & Roll music and Lynyrd Skynyrd in particular. I don’t ever recall seeing a book written about a family pet that is named after a famous Southern Rock & Roll band. My wife thought Lynyrd Skynyrd would be a great name for our dog. So we have a unique name coupled with a unique breI’m currently working on marketing my “Help Us Help Our 4-Legged Frynds” Initiative. I have decided to donate the proceeds from my 1st 1000 book sales to local Animal Shed because Lynyrd is a puggle. A puggle is a pug & beagle mix. My book tells the story of how Lynyrd joined our family and enriched our lives. Hopefully, book sales/donations to our “Help Us Help Our 4-Legged Frynds” Initiative will allow those recovered shelter animals to find a loving home.

Why do I write what I do?

Since this is my 1st book I must confess that the actual writing was accidental. I was actually trying to organize all of the pictures that we had taken of Lynyrd on my computer. While viewing the pictures in a slideshow format I thought that I could develop a story to coincide with the pictures. I then had an eight year old neighbor girl read the story and she loved it. She stated that her classmates would enjoy it too so that’s how my 1st book came to be.

How does your writing process work?

The actual writing process from my 1st book actually was inspired by the pictures and the story just flowed rather easily. Lynyrd is such a lovable friendly dog to be around and just watching him go about his daily routine can be somewhat entertaining. His backyard antics have inspired me to write my 2nd children’s book about him. It will be titled “My Backyard Friends”. And as you might have guessed, it will be about Lynyrd’s interactions with the various creatures in our backyard.

Excerpt from my book

Hello, my name is Lynyrd Skynyrd.  Yes, you might say that I have a funny name but let me tell you my story. I am named after one of the most popular and successful Southern Rock Bands in history. Now let me tell you how my name came to be. My human parents; I’ll call them Mommy and Daddy, wanted a dog.  Well, my Daddy loves music and one day Mommy told Daddy that she had the perfect name for a dog. Daddy asked Mommy what that name was and she said Lynyrd Skynyrd. Mommy knew Daddy would like that name because Daddy listened to the band Lynyrd Skynyrd.  Once Mommy and Daddy agreed on my name, they had to try and find a dog that fit the name. So Mommy and Daddy went searching for a puppy or you could say they went searching for me.  Mommy and Daddy went to a dog show. At the dog show Mommy stopped at a breeder’s booth where I was located with some Dachshund puppies. Just as Mommy was about to pick up one of the Dachshund puppies, Daddy looked at me and said what about this little guy?  Although I don’t even look anything like a Dachshund, Mommy said I was the cutest puppy she had ever seen.  That’s because I am a Puggle.  A Puggle is part Pug and part Beagle and that’s what makes me unique.

So Mommy and Daddy had made their decision to adopt me and I was on my way to my new home. Well, the ride in Daddy’s truck was quite the experience! Daddy couldn’t tell who was more nervous; me or Mommy? I am Mommy’s first puppy so she was kind of nervous holding me in her lap.  And I was kind of nervous because I didn’t know what to expect?  When we arrived home Mommy put me down on the kitchen floor. Because I was kind of nervous, I had an accident on the floor. It was my first accident, but it wouldn’t be my last. Actually I was just marking my new turf and I was really happy to be home. I then decided to do some exploring and check out my new home. I didn’t know that there would be surprises for me in the kitchen and in the living room. The kitchen surprise was my own food and water bowls. I was just a little guy so I could hardly reach my food and water.

National Puppy DayDid you know today was National Puppy Day? It is usually held on March 23, but that would have been Sunday, and many animal shelters are closed on Sundays. So National Puppy Day is today but will be celebrated throughout the weekend by everyone who loves dogs and wants to see each and every one in a forever home providing unconditional love.

My top 15 ways to celebrate National Puppy Day:

  1. Adopt a puppy from your local shelter or pure breed rescue organization.
  2. Donate money, food and toys to your local shelter.
  3. Have a puppy party and invite all your friends and their puppies!
  4. Host a community event to raise money for your local animal shelter.
  5. Volunteer at your local shelter and offer to walk a puppy or play with a puppy, clean cages or anything else they need help with.
  6. Have a tee shirt made with your puppy’s…

Panorama Stitching Software – Alternatives To Canon Photostitch

Don Charisma

Canon Photostitch software is good and works pretty well with good quality photos. With a tripod then you’ll probably get an awesome merged result. Sometimes it won’t stitch together photos how I want. So what do I use instead ? Well it’s a tricky choice, because all panorama/stitching software isn’t created equal. Each has it’s nuances, features and drawbacks.

I use Panorama and stitching software often for the photos I post on my blog. I like the power afforded to me to get wider angle shots or to be able to get a much higher megapixel result because of the multiple images being joined. Without of course the expense of an expensive fisheye lens or a multi thousand dollar 75 megapixel camera. It’s even possible to produce gigapixel images, the Microsoft ICE site talks about a gigapixel image, comprised of 800 individual photos ! My largest ever has been…

Battle weary
Morale dreary
The war won
But not done
Is the pain
For loved ones slain
Grief falls like rain
In roiling waves
Drowning graves
In sorrow
For a better tomorrow.
